Car-based obstacle detection system for high-speed driving safety was developed conformably to the problem of automatic vehicle guidance. The system is based on analysis of digital stereo images acquired by two CCD-video cameras. Real-time obstacle detection is performed in own traffic lane of the vehicle. The system provides reliable detection of obstacles of different types on distance up to 100 meters.
