Digital image of object surface with a set of characters is registered by video camera and transferred to the PC.

For automatic recognition of character information the original image processing algorithms based on wavelet transformation, fuzzy logic and models of artificial neural networks are applied.

Possible application areas of the system include automatic goods classification and reading of special stamping.
